Day 14: Dual Podium Among Four Medal awarded to Canada

Canada picks up four medals over three events as the Olympic Games approach their conclusion.


In the Women’s Ski Halfpipe Canada got not one but two medals. Cassie Sharpe and Rachael Karker made up the dual podium finish for Canada. Sharpe, the defending gold medalist, takes the silver this time around with a score of 90.75, while Karker ends up with bronze with her score of 87.75.


The two Canadians sat in second and third the entire way through. Amy Fraser, the third Canadian in the field finished eighth.


After playing their best game of the tournament in the semifinal loss to Sweden, Canada rebounds to win bronze against Team USA in Men’s Curling. Gushue’s team defeated the defending gold medalists 8-5.


After not medaling in the 500m, Long Track Speed Skater Laurent Dubreuil wins the Silver medal in the Men’s 1000m. Teammates Connor Howe and Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu finished 12th and 22nd.


Canada adds two silver and two bronze to their medal total. They have four gold, seven silver and 13 bronze totaling 24 medals.


It was a disappointing result in the Men's Ski Cross. Jared Schmidt, Kevin Drury and Reece Howden all get eliminated in the quarterfinal, leaving Canada’s medal hopes to defending gold medalist Brady Leman. Leman finished fourth in his semifinal, eliminating him from medal contention.


In biathlon, Christian Gow finishes 13th, Jules Burnotte finishes 18th and Scott Gow finishes 25th in the Men’s 15kn Mass Start.


As for figure skating, after the Pairs Short Program, Vanessa James and Eric Radford are in 12 with a score of 63-03 while Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro are in 13th with a score of 62.51.


Finally in the 2-woman Bobsleigh, Christine de Bruin and Kristen Bujnowski, are in striking distance of the podium after two runs. They are currently fourth, 1.16 seconds back of the lead, but 0.42 seconds back of third place. Cynthia Appiah and dawn Richardson Wilson are in eighth, 1.59 second back of the lead while Melissa Lotholzand Sara Villani are in 18th, 2.16 trailing by 2.16



Day 15:


The final two runs of the 2-Woman Bobsleigh take place and the first two runs of the 4-man Boblesleigh, in which Canada has three sleds.


Brendan Mackay, Noah Bowman and Simon d’Artois compete in the final of the Men’s Ski Halfpipe.


Canada will have a team in Alpine Skiing Mixed Parallel Team.


In Long Track Speed Skating, the Men’s and Women’s Mass Start featuring Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu and Jordan Belchos for the men and Ivanie Blondin and Valérie Maltais for the women.


Finally, Figure Skating concludes with the Pairs Free Program.
