Day 12: One More Gold for a Canadian Olympic Icon

On a quiet all-around day, Canada was able to add an important medal to their tally.


In Short Track Speed Skating Canada add another medal to their tally. Pascal Dion, Jordan Pierre-Gilles Steven Dubois and Charle Hamelin win gold in the Men’s 5000m Relay.


For Dubois, who skated the anchor leg, that was his third medal of the games as he completed the set after winning silver in the 1500m and bronze in the 500m. He becomes the second Canadian to pick up a medal of every colour at these Games after Isabelle Weidemann did it in Long Track Speed Skating.


As for Hamelin. He ends his Olympic career with a gold medal that sees him tied with Cindy Klassen as the most decorated Winter Olympian with six medals.


Canada now has three gold, four silver and 11 bronze for a total of 18 medals.


Still in Short Track, three Canadians raced in the Women's 1500m. Danaé Blais got eliminated in the quarterfinal while Kim Boutin and Courtney Sarault get eliminated in the semifinal.


In Men’s Ski Slopestyle, Max Moffat, the lone Canadian out of four to qualify for the final. He put up his highest score on his third and final run. Moffat finished in ninth with a score of 70.40.


It was a fifth place finish in the Men’s Cross Country Skiing Team Sprint. The duo of Antoine Cyr and Graham Ritchie finished fifth, 22.31 seconds back from the leader.


Erik Read finishes 24th in the Men’s Slalom. The Alpine Skier finished 5.01 seconds off the lead. The other Canadian in the field, Trevor Philp, did not finish.


In curling, Canada defeated Team USA 7-6 in thier first match on the day. In their second, the fall 11-9 to China depite scoring 5 points in the sixth to go up 8-5. The game went to an extra end tied at nine and Canada with the hammer, but China managed to steal two to win the game.


Canada will not move on in Men's Hockey. In their quarterfinal matchup against Sweden, they were tied at zero until they allowed a goal halfway through the third. Sweden added an empty net goal as Canada loses 2-0.



Day 13:


Canada’s men’s and women’s curling teams of Brad Gushue and Jennifer Jones play their final round-robin game. Gushue will take on Great Britain and Jones will take on Denmark. Gushue will also have the semifinal game to play.


Cassie Sharpe takes the first step in defending her gold medal from 2018 in the Women’s Ski Halfpipe qualifications. The men’s qualifiers will also take place.


Roni Remme will be the only Canadian in the field for the Women’s Alpine Combined.


More skiing as the women compete in Ski Cross.


In Long Track Speed Skating Two Canadians compete in the Women’s 1000m.


Women’s Figure Skating wraps up with the Free Program as Canada’s Madeline Schizas sits 20th.


Finally, the big event of the day, it’s Canada and the US in a classic rivalry battle for the gold medal in Women’s Hockey
