Ever since Day 6 saw Canada win four medals, it has been a little bit of a rough patch ever since. Canada found the podium once more, and despite only getting one medal on Day 9, some positive news came from Women's Monobob, Men's Curling and Men's Hockey.

The only medal of the day for Canada came in Short Track Speed Skating. In the Men’s 500m, Steven Dubois was not in the top two of his semifinal heat, however, he was impeded on the final turn, and the officials granted him a spot in the final.

Already with a silver in the 1500m, Dubois will add a bronze in the 500m.

Canada now has one gold, four silver and nine bronze for a total of 14 medals.

Still in short track, it was the final of the Women’s 3000m Relay. The team consisted of Kim Boutin, Alyson Charles, Florence Brunelle and Courtney Sarault. Canada was in the hunt for a medal midway through the race but that wasn’t enough as they could not keep up the pace and finished in fourth, just off the podium.

Women’s Monobob is making its Olympic debut. Canada has two sleds in the competition. One piloted by Christine de Bruin and the other by Cynthia Appiah. After the first two runs, a familiar face, Team USA’s Kaillie Humphries, formerly of Canada is in the lead. In second is de Bruin 1.04 seconds behind and in 10th, Appiah, who is 2.18 seconds back of the lead.

In curling, Brad Gushue and his team got back in the win column. A steal of four in the second helped dictate the game the entire way. They win by a score of 10-5 and improve their record to 3-2.

Jennifer Jones on the other hand, lost their third straight game. It was a low-scoring game halfway through. Down 5-4 in the eighth with the hammer, Canada gave up a steal of two in back-to-back ends that sealed their fate as they lose 8-4. They now sit with a 1-3 record.

Canada closes out the group stage with a 5-0 win over China in Men’s Hockey. Canada will have to play a qualification game to get to the quarterfinal as they did not finish first in the group, nor are they the best of the second place teams.

On Day 10:

A couple of X-Games events will hold their qualifiers. It includes the Men’s and Women’s Snowboard Big Air and the Men’s Ski Slopestyle.

Two qualifying events were also postponed on Day 9, due to weather conditions. The first was the Women’s Ski Slopestyle, which featured Megan Oldham and Olivia Asselin and Women’s Aerial which would have featured bronze medalist Marion Thénault. Both will now take place on Day 10.

In curling, the men have one game on the schedule against Italy, while the women play twice, facing the Russian Olympic Committee in the morning and Great Britain in the evening (Beijing time).

Women’s Hockey semifinals will get underway. Canada will play Switzerland, who they had defeated 12-1 in the group stage.

Christine de Bruin looks to maintain her podium position in the final two runs of the Women's Monobob.

After the Monobob medalist is crowned, Canada will send three sleds in the Men’s 2-man Bobsleigh, led by Justin Kripps and Cam Stones.

Finally, Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, look to improve on their current placement of sixth place in the Free Dance. Fellow Canadian Figure Skaters, Laurence Fournier Beaudry

Nikolaj Sørensen are in 8th.
