Canada was unable to add to their medal count after a couple of close finishes on the day.
In the Women’s Freestyle Skiing Big Air event, two Canadians were in the final including 20-year-old Megan Oldham. Oldham entered the final after qualifying in first place. In the final, she had a scored of 178.00, good enough for fourth place. Teammate Olivia Asselin,17, finished eighth with a score of 147.50.
In Long Track Speed Skating, Connor Howe finished fifth in the Men’s 1500m. The 21-year-old Canadian posted a time of 1:44.86, missing the podium by 0.62 seconds. Fellow Canadians Tyson Langelaar and Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu, finished 22nd and 23rd.

In Figure Skating Keegan Messing was finally able to make his way to Beijing in time for the Men’s event after a complex testing and travel issue prevented him from being able to compete in the MIxed Team event. After the Short Program, Messing heads into the Free Skate in ninth place after he scored a 93.24. Roman Sadovsky finished 29th and did not qualify to skate the free.
The headline of the night was not for a medal, but it was a classic Canada/USA Olympic hockey game. The Canadians came out on top 4-2 thanks to two goals from Brianne Jenner and a penalty shot goal by none other than Marie-Philip Poulin. Ann-Renée Desbiens stopped 51 of 53 shots.
